Liberal Arts Meets Business

Though it may not have an obvious application to my career, I saw my Religious Studies degree from Washington University in St. Louis as a chance to develop as a citizen of the world, exploring experiences beyond my own.

It has also been an asset in my career. To me, there is no work that isn’t somewhat predicated on a person’s ability to understand another. At its premise, this line of study is simply a means of understanding the magnitude of diversity between people, cultures, and traditions. Especially as I have a passion in fighting for equality and human rights, a background in Religious Studies should be particularly valuable.

My initial interest in Religious Studies was bred by a deep curiosity of religion and its impact on society. Being exposed to the variance in behaviors has helped foster a curiosity and empathy for all people. Through my studies and now real world experiences, I have been able to see that although there are an infinite amount of differences between us, there are just as many universal truths.
